Feicht Award

REGULATIONS

PCU Musicologists’ Section announces a competition for academic papers in the field of musicology for the Rev. Prof. Hieronim Feicht Award.

  1. The participants of this annual competition can be all musicologists who until the day of submitting their work did not yet turn 40.
  2. The aims of the Award are: promotion of the academic achievements of musicologists and music theoreticians from all Polish academic centres (they need not be PCU members), encouraging musicological research, integration of our society and continuing the research tradition connected with the figure of Rev. Prof. Hieronim Feicht.
  3. The Award is granted by a jury of 5 to 7 persons representing different fields of musicology, including at least one representative of the Institute of Musicology, Warsaw University (initiator of the Award) and the Chairperson of PCU Musicologists’ Section.
  4. The selection of papers for the Award precedes the annual musicological conference during which those Awards are presented. The Award consists of a diploma and an amount of money. The exact amount to be granted is established each year by the jury. The jury may also decide not to grant the Award in the given year.
  5. The participating works are musicological papers on any subject, published in Poland during the last two calendar years before the granting of the Award. Works that have not been published, or were published abroad, may be accepted only in exceptional cases.
  6. Works for the competition may be submitted by their authors themselves or by their academic supervisors, as well as by all PCU members, to the Chairperson of the jury to PCU headquarters address, before the end of the calendar year.
  7. The Award fund consists of a capital account in Bank Gdański which was made up of the excess of PCU member and friend contributions for Rev. Prof. Hieronim Feicht’s epitaph in St Cross Church in Warsaw, the donations of sponsors found by Musicologists’ Section Management Board, and a Ministry of Culture grant. All the donors are listed as the Award founders. The fund may also be supported from other sources, e.g. the sale of PCU publications.
